CAMPAIGNS: HEINEKEN

Remember the band on Heineken's 'The Date' spot last year? Well they have made a return especially for Valentine's Day and are armed with props and instruments ready to serenade whoever you forgot to send a card to this morning.

Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam created an app for Facebook in which users can send humorous customised videos and ask someone out on a date. And because it's Valentine's Day, we've made one just for you [above]!

Users can specify who the 'lucky one' is, why they fancy them - options include: 'I like the colour of your aura' and 'you have a rich dad' - and what great qualities they could be missing out on. There are different date scenarios to choose from including going line dancing, meeting the parents and singing karaoke. Once entered, the band will perform the personalised serenade to the desired recipient. The app even has an option for the them to respond with a yes or no.

There are 640 possible serenade combinations which are available in 20 different languages and will be performed by the flamboyant Paul 'Kiss' Kissaun and his band who people will recognise from last year. The songs will all be variations of 'Jaan Pehechan Ho', a song sung by Mohammed Rafi, from the 1965 Hindi film 'Gumnaam', which featured in 'The Date'.

The campaign also held 'Serenade Live', an eight-hour YouTube event which utilised social media to ask Facebook and Twitter followers if they would like to go on a legendary date and surprise their loved one in an unexpected fashion. The most unique, moving, bizarre and original stories were selected for the show and performed live by the the Serenade band.

Mark Bernath, Executive Creative Director at Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam said: "In a way, we want people to be in the films we make. The idea of giving Heineken drinkers the band from the spot to help them ask someone out is our way to make that happen for real. Let's hope we make a load of offers that can't be refused."
