Sony’s colourful ads

With the days are getting darker again and foggy november days laying ahead of us, it's time to focus on the brighter, more heart-warming moments in life.

So, why not take a short trip through the playful and colourful Sony Bravia spots, which made it into Lürzers Archive over the last decade. Sony has the right touch when it comes to colourful ads. Their brand new spot "More brilliance. More beauty." by DDB, Berlin promoting their 4K HDR TV has made it to our Spot of the Week recently and will be found in the upcoming issue of Lürzers Archive Vol.6/2016. It was shot in an old abandoned Romanian casino, where white balloons are bouncing through the empty ceilings, when they finally burst and release glitter in all colours. The more than fitting song is contributed by Cindy Lauper "True Colors". See below several short films, which allow a glimpse behind the scenes of  "More brilliance. More beauty", from the exploring balloons to the colour explosion at the end.

Besides the "glitter balloons", let's remember the Sony Bravia spot by McCann Erickson, where a volcanic eruption of flowers covers an entire mountain village. And not to forget the epic balls spot of 2006, where thousands of colourful rubber balls are bouncing down the streets of San Francisco to the strains of Jose Gonazles' "Heartbeat". It was created by London based Agency Fallon, like "The Paint" and “Play-Doh” before. Have a look at our gallery far below!

Returning to glamour and glitter again: isn't some glitter the ideal starter for the festive mood we are going to get until the upcoming Christmas season? And let's be honest, Christmas will be here sooner than later, like every year. The motto is: glitter on!

Sony Bravia 4K: "Volcano" [01:00]# In this spot for Sony’s 4K TV, a volcano is seen erupting yet what emerges is not molten destructive lava but millions of colorful petals that fly up into the air before descending to cover a village below.

Sony Bravia: "Colourman" [00:40]# The producers of this spot took the campaign strapline very seriously, interpreting it quite literally. In an Asian city, colorful squares pop up in various different places, and are chased through the streets by its inhabitants. At first there are just a few but, soon, the whole city is on its feet, each one of them seeking to grab one of the squares. Super: “Capture colour in motion.”

Sony Bravia “Pyramid” (01:00) One of the wonders of the world – the Great Pyramid of Gizeh – is at the centre of this Asian take on the familiar spots for the Sony Bravia. Thousands of spindles of yarn in the most diverse of colours are falling from the apex, shrouding the biggest of the pyramids in a brightly coloured coat of many colours. Exciting and fascinating shots of the tumbling yarns illustrate this remarkable transformation. Strapline: “Live colour creation”.

Sony Bravia “Play-Doh” (01:30) # One brightly coloured Play-Doh bunny after another pops out of its hiding place until, finally, an entire army of them are hopping all over town. Yet the Play-Doh also allows the bunnies to link up with one another to produce a giant red rabbit which, in turn, morphs into thousands of brightly coloured cubes. “Colour like no other” is the strapline for this keenly awaited successor to the “Balls” and “Paint” spots for the Sony Bravia television.

Sony Bravia “Paint” (01:10) # Hot on the heels of the “Balls” spot from the beginning of last year comes this commercial in which Sony once again focuses on the colour spectrum of its Bravia LCD television. This time around, we are treated to a riot of colour, tastefully set to Rossini’s “Thieving Magpie Overture.” Tons of “exploding” colours are to be seen cascading over facades and across the ground. Tagline: “Colour – like no other.”

A flurry of brightly colored balls fills the screen – and the hilly streets of San Francisco. For this commercial, two dump trucks dipped their contents of about 70,000 bouncy balls from above the road surface, with a few mortars shooting an additional few tens of thousands or so of them up into the air, and the end result is this enchanting commercial for Sony Bravia LCD televisions, which focuses on the TV’s brilliant color. The soundtrack is “Heartbeats,” sung softly by Jose Gonzalez. Without any shadow of a doubt, one of the top contenders for the awards show circuit in 2006
