How you got into advertising ...
I worked as a designer for 15 years in London. Over time it became more and more apparent I wanted to move into illustration and have that as my sole focus, as I was the most inspired and happy looking at portfolios and other illustrators.
A run-down of the most recent campaign I worked on...
It's actually a Christmas campaign, so the client has to stay a secret at the moment. What I can tell you is that it is for a retail brand and is going across all channels. Store windows, online, social media and all retail touchpoints.
The best piece of creative work around at the moment is ...
I would have to pick a fellow illustrator – Gill Button aka Buttonfruit is creating some amazing pieces and collaborations. Her campaign for Transparent TV was wonderful.
The evolution of campaigns for disruptive digital only brands, the Uber, AirBnB and Snapchats of the world. They have all changed and disrupted the markets. How they engage emotionally with consumers so they become a vital part of peoples' lives, and not just another piece of software.
Anything by The Economist.
My favourite digital tool/app at the moment ...
It's not original, but Instagram is a huge part of my daily routine now. It covers so much for marketing, networking and is a constant source of inspiration.
In a film about my life, I’d like to be played by...
If it could be anyone, I’m aiming for the stars! I’m picking Natalie Portman. She is just wonderful.
A word or phrase I overuse...
Am I making sense?
My last social media update said ...
It was on Instagram and it said: Saturday well spent at Somerset House London for Bjork Digital mind blowing experience. www.instagram.com/carolinetomlinsonillustrator
My dream collaboration is ...
If I had the opportunity to work with fashion designer JW Anderson, that would be beyond exciting. I also love the idea of working on some big windows for Selfridges or Saks.
A piece of criticism I’ve received was ...
Be more you, push your work harder.
A great piece of advice I received ...
Work harder than you hope for it.
