For this week's Editor's Blog I'm handing over this space to the guys of the Lürzer’s Grand Slam Awards. Strictly speaking I don't have much to do with the awards as editor-in-chief of the magazine where submissions are free of charge. But of course I understand that the work submitted to the Grand Slam awards stands a better chance of winning if it was previously selected and was actually published in an issue of Lürzer's Archive than if it came out of nowhere. But here is some info from the Grand Slam people regarding some of the proceedings. And have a look at the amazing collection of Grand Slam Jury member in which, I confess, I had a hand in too.
But before I make room for the Grand Slam guys, here's an ad for Pantene shampoo from Japan that our art director, Christine Thierry, discovered in an article about "influencers" - in this case a 1-year-old girl named Chanco with amazing hair. She first wentTviral last year when her mom shared a shot of her gorgeous mane on Instagram. At just 4 months old, little Chanco appeared with a more-than-full head of hair. Since that first photo, Chanco’s following has grown to over 300,000. She appears in the ad alongside Japanese television personality Sato Kondo. Sato’s been admired throughout the country for aging gracefully and proudly displaying her gray hair. We thought it too surreal - if not hair-raising - not to share it with you here

As the number one New Year’s resolution for every creative is to win more and better awards, here is a thought. Submit all of your great ideas to Lürzer’s Grand Slam and start the year with a bang.
