Vol. 3-2019 is about to go to the printer's and as this is our so-called Cannes issue (for no other reason than that it will be distributed at the Cannes Lions festival). All we have to do for it is to choose the cover page. And, as always, here am I to show you the options we have for it. I must admit right away that I personally favour two of the ones you're about to see but as the tortured headline here implies it's up to you to guess which ones they are. On your right, in the Gallery, you can see the original ads they were taken from.
The first option we have this time is from a campaign for Infiniti brand trucks from MullenLowe Mena, Dubai, and the headline (in the ad this is taken from) reads: New InfinitiQX50 with Predictive Forward Collision Warning. The ad targets Pakistani expat drivers in the UAE and features a truck painted in the traditional Pakistani style.
Up next is a cover option from the Paris office of LOLA MullenLowe, a campaign for Harley-Davidson promoting the company's new electric motorbikes. The text says: Soon electric, so I guess there is no actual motorbike yet to be showcased. The beautiful photograph is by none other than the number one photographer in Archive's Ranking, the super-prolific Ale Burset.
The third cover possibility is another ad from Paris, France, this one by TBWA. It promotes the cheap tickets of the French Railway Company, SNCF. The headline says Travel further than you think for 15 Euro, which, apparently, can take you to faraway places where nutrition-conscious aliens or robots roam.
Our next option for a front page is this: It comes from Arnold Worldwide in Boston and it's for an insurance company called Progressive. In a series of ads homage is paid to the truckers who paved the way to the American dream.
And our final cover alternative for Vol. 3-19 is, one again, an ad from Dubai, from the agency Publicis Middle East. It advertises the Jeep Wrangler with an "easy-to-detach" roof. So that drivers can go off on adventurous road trips that involve picking up hitchhikers wearing tribal headdress.
So, that's it for the cover competition for Vol. 3-2019. Let us know what your preferences are in the comments section of the Facebook posting of this blog! Looking forward to finding out if any of my prefered options are among them.
