Bernardo Romero, Chief Creative Officer, The Bloc, New York
As a Brazilian I’ve always been a hopeless optimist. Our country, for a lot of historical reasons, teaches us from really early age to use creativity to go around limitations and to try to make the best out of difficult times.
So, imbued with this spirit, over the past 3 weeks…
As a father and a husband, I’ve been more present than ever. We’ve even opened a new family TIk Tok account and have been dancing like crazy. Lots of fun challenges and embarrassing moves!
As a diabetic patient – the main reason why I’ve shifted to healthcare advertising –,I’ve never been more active. I’ve just bought myself a Peloton bike and it’s been doing wonders for my sugar levels.
As a former reality-TV star – true story –, it’s the second time I’ve been confined in a house for months. Only this time it is with people that I love and chose to be around with.
As a leader, I’m seeing myself more connected than never with my teams and co-workers. By trying to address the distance we’ve never been closer. The fact that we’re constantly in our own houses with our families, pets and books during zoom calls, it takes that corporate aura out of the equation.
As a client’s partner, I’ve never been more valued as we’ve been proactively and restlessly trying to address their business concerns and daily challenges in regards to the new dynamics in the marketplace.
And as a creative I’ve never been happier as I’ve just heard our first short-film got it’s first “Official Selection” badge from a very prestigious International Film Festival, ARFF. We wrote this film before COVID-19 and filmed it during the beginning of the outbreak. It has obviously taken on new meaning in the era of the pandemic. In a scenario where doctors are risking their own lives and being forced to stay away from their families to save people, we really need to value and pay homage to something no A.I. machine in the world can offer: humanity and empathy.
