How has my workday turned into what feels like a live TV show?
Hair & Make up
Before I go on ‘set’ I have to get this sorted. My roots are as dark as my coffee. It’s not a good look and needs constant attention. And I’m wearing eyeshadow for the first time.
Blimey this is a nightmare. I am making the effort to dress as I would if I was going into the office. This really helps me focus and gear up for the day. I have a feeling I’m going to slip into evening wear soon though as I’m getting bored with my ‘day’ options. For a 9am meeting on Friday, I wore a sparkly top and lit a full candelabra. This is only going one way.
It’s a tough one to follow at the moment as the sands shift in what seems like every hour. My ‘stories’ for the day are super varied – Covid updates, business updates, new business updates, creative reviews, pitch calls, pitch presentations, One Show judging, global and local Senior Leadership calls, and most importantly, touching base with as many people as possible to see how they are. We’re living in crazy times but I’m blown away by people’s professionalism and humanity.
Oh my goodness. I now have three. So the morning is the kitchen table, with a backdrop of my wine glasses. There are quite a few. After lunch, I hit the Bullard Bar. Not literally as that would be a bit early. But it’s in the garden and above the lid of my laptop, I can see nature taking a much needed break from human pollution. And finally there’s my weekend set, on the sofa in my living room with my feet up.
How quickly have we adopted new technology? The brilliant Teams has been amazing. But more than the technology, the spirit I’ve seen from every single person I’ve connected with has been phenomenal.
So what now? Whatever. Bring it on. We’re ready.
Lights. Camera. Action.
