Both Old Spice and Bank of America go back to the eighties for their latest spots.
Boston agency Hill Holiday tackles the often mundane subject of financial services for Bank of America.
Filtered with a look that is reminiscent of both the early eighties and Instagram, each shot is framed so that it seems to take place just after the family makes the needed adjustment to deal with the “second British invasion” for instance.
"We know we're not the centre of your life, but we'll do our best to help you connect to what is," says the voiceover at the end, followed by a very brief flash of on-screen tagline, "Life's better when we're connected", and the Bank of America logo.
The “Portraits” spot, directed by Ivan Zacharias, is backed another two ads.

Moving on to a completely different product and tone, Old Spice parodies those corny soap ads from the eighties.
The two new spots, “Watermelon” and “Shower”, for the brand’s Fiji Bar Soap, take a surreal turn to the cheesy ads that some of you may remember.
In "Shower", we see a handsome doctor followed around by his shower, to the point of stalking.
