Getty Images and AlmapBBDO, São Paulo, have followed up the successful viral video, “From Love to Bingo,” with “85 Seconds”, a video telling a love story with a collation of 105 videos from the Getty Images video library.
A boy and a girl meet as young children, are separated and then reunite as adults.
As the story unfolds with no dialogue – only music and video from Getty Images –, a stopwatch feature tracks the story, second by second. At the film's conclusion, the stopwatch speeds ahead to 63,103,983 seconds, the estimated length of the entire Getty Images Video collection.
"We reviewed more than 4,000 Getty Images Video clips and adapted the story as the research evolved,” says copywriter Sophie Schoenburg.
“Sometimes we searched for something we had in mind, and other times we would find something great we weren't looking for. That's when we realised that if we played all the clips in Getty Images Video collection, it would take 63,103,983 seconds - which is two years. It's huge!"
With 2,604,414 views and counting, AlmapBBDO Schoenburg and art director Marcos Kotlhar caught the attention of millions with the viral "From Love to Bingo" campaign last year, which featured as Lürzer’s Archive Spot of the Week in May 2012.
In the spot, we saw the life of a man - from his first love to his passion for bingo - depicted in 873 stock images (at 15 images per second) from Getty’s Image bank.
It took Schoenburg and Kotlhar six months to search through 5,000 images to create the digital “flip book” style video.
Of the previous ad, the agency said: “All of the pictures show different people in different places, yet they fit together to make a single story.”
It added that it took so long to produce because employees spent time “improving the script and building each scene so they would not only be understood, but would also touch viewers.
“Sometimes, for example, a scene would look perfect on paper, but the images chosen to depict it were not sufficient or did not perfectly match up to offer the right movement and sense. And hence the research had to be restarted.”
