Montblanc’s “Timepieces” app shows off the luxury brand’s latest collection of watches.
The app supports the 2013 watch collection at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva. Working closely with Montblanc, digital agency AKQA defined, designed and developed the app, which also introduces the ‘Nicolas Rieussec Rising Hours’ timepiece as well as the history and heritage of the brand.
You can find out about Rieussec’s invention of the chronograph,
“Timepieces” showcases more than 40 watches across Montblanc’s six collections – aimed to be a resource particularly for collectors.
Parallax scrolling introduces three main sections of the app: “Calibres”, “Collections” and “Insights”. High-definition images and 3d rendering let people explore the watch faces and intricacy of calibres in detail.
The “Insights” section allows users to scroll through over a century of Montblanc’s craftsmanship through stories, images and film.
Developed specifically for the iPad, a “True View” interactive feature also enables users to measure the width of their wrists and see how a particular watch will look when worn. Favourite watched can be shared on social media and the “Boutique Finder” lets you locate your nearest Montblanc boutique.
“We wanted to showcase Montblanc’s unique timepieces in an exceptional way,” said Jason Warnes, general manager at AKQA, Berlin.
“The app provides elegant access to a breadth and depth of material and a unique True View feature,” he said. “It genuinely sets the standard for a refined iPad experience.”
The app can be downloaded on iTunes.
