Create your own musical sushi with Maki-San's bright and colourful website
Maki-San is Singapore’s first ever fully customisable sushi store. On their "Roll with Maki-San" website, fun, animated messages can be sent to friends and family by choosing a dizzying array of animations and sounds.
The animations and transitions from each section are also very clever – the whole page gets wrapped up in a roll. Everything that makes up the site screams fun – from the music to the colour palette. Playful wallpapers correspond with the package design of some of the products in-store.
The site was created by Kinetic Singapore and lets users go through different stages of digital sushi creating. These include choosing your ingredients, creating your very own musical sequence and further personalising by adding a message to share with friends on social media platforms.
Another section in the website creatively dissects and labels each component of their salads and ready rolled options. The section denoted by a camera symbol crowdsources Instagram pictures from users that have been tagged with either @rollwithmakisan or #makisan.
Sean Lam, Benjy Choo, Carolyn Teo and Adrian Tan first founded Kinetic in 1999 as an interactive studio. A design and advertising arm, Kinetic Design, was co-founded in 2001 by award-winning creative director Pann Lim along with Carolyn and Adrian.
Lim has featured in Lürzer’s Archive many times for campaigns for clients including Singapore Petroleum Company, Lorgan’s The Retro Store and Jubes.
