The selection of covers for Lürzer's Archive Vol. 6/2015
Michael Weinzettl presents the cover candidates for our upcoming issue, Lürzer's Archive Vol. 6/2015. Voting options at the bottom!
This is a very busy time for us at Archive. In addition to our brand new 200 Best Ad Photographers which should be available next week, we’re also putting the finishing touches on our final issue of Archive magazine for this year.
And, once again, I should like to know what you think of the options (obviously from campaigns featured in the magazine) we’ve come up with for the cover.
This time around we have five alternatives which I’d like to have your feedback on. Which is your favourite? Which one would you like to have on our next cover? Which one do you think is most likely to draw the attention of someone visiting one of the bookshops all over the world Archive is available at?
Although the question is which one do you think will have the most impact and does not concern the idea behind the campaign, I thought that for a change I’m going to present you the cover options along with the ads they were taken from.
Number one is from Spain for Camper brand shoes. The cover would be the right-hand side of a spread for their A/W 15 collection. We have featured campaigns for this brand before, and they tend to do things differently each time.
In 2009 for instance, it was Mother, London who created a campaign in cooperation with French photographer, commercials director and performance artist Jean-Pierre Khazem. This time Camper has enlisted the help of German photographer Daniel Sannwald and makeup artist and i-D magazine’s beauty editor Isamaya Ffrench.
The second option comes from JWT Mexico City and is taken from a campaign for Victoria brand beer. It was published on the occasion of Mexico’s famous Day of the Dead holiday which is celebrated around the same time as Halloween.
Next up is a cover taken pretty much 1:1 from an ad for Play-Doh which I’m sure will have a special appeal to all of the Game of Thrones fans out there. It is part of a campaign by DDB, Santiago de Chile and was created with the digital imagine wizards from Salamágica, whose work frequently features in the pages of our magazines and 200 Best specials.
Number four is from a South American country too – Brazil to be exact. It was created by DM9DDB, São Paulo for chocolate brand Kopenhagen to promote their in-store coffee shops.
And finally, the ‘all-Latin’ theme continues with a beautiful minimalist ad for Oral B Enamel Protector dental floss from the Comunication 85 agency, Guayaquil, Ecuador.
As far as I’m concerned it’s quite an embarras de choix this time around; I can’t honestly say at this point which one is my favourite. Which is where your opinion would come in very handy indeed. Let us know which of the five options you’d like to see on the front of our next book!
