My road to advertising...
When I was a kid, my mom was so into Rudolf Steiner pedagogy that she got rid of our TV set. For a good couple of years, I had no TV. So my brothers and I had no option: we'd write short tales and draw comics and record radio soap operas. We were responsible for our own entertainment.
By the time I had to choose a profession, I simply made a long list with every possible profession out there and started to cross out the ones I knew for sure I'd never choose. The last one standing was advertising.
The best piece of creative work around at the moment is...
Probably sitting inside the drawer of a junior creative somewhere in Asia.
I am inspired by...
My grandpa João. He's 103 and still learning. He swims, plays the piano and takes English, oil painting, and yoga lessons (including practicing the Sirshasana position). The other day my brother found condoms in his house.
This year I'll be attending...
I recently spoke at el Ojo de Iberoaméricano alongside Gaston Bigio, my fellow DAVID founder. Next year I will be attending the Wave Festival in Rio, where I will have the honour of being president of the Film category. I’ll also be at a Top-15 Ogilvy Offices meeting in Kenya, Africa, to learn more about Lion hunting.
The next big thing in advertising is going to be...
A creative bot. Basically, an android able to come up with ideas. He comes preloaded with the best reference sites and YouTube videos. You feed him all the information, the target, the market, the competitors, the media, the brand tone & manner, and he regurgitates a couple of Gold Lions and Grand Prix awards. Apparently there’s a prototype under construction somewhere in Porto Digital, Recife. Our days as creatives are so over.
The piece of digital/advertising work I wish I had thought of is...
Google. I’d love to create something that became a verb.
In a film about my life, I'd like to be played by...
Not sure anyone would be interested in watching a film about a guy that basically works at the office every day. It’s a sad life.
In my industry, I admire...
Those who walk the talk.
The screen background on my mobile phone...
Is that Earth seen from outerspace shot, the factory setting by Apple. I think it’s cheesy to have kids and dogs.
My last social media update said...
"Gracias por todo!" (Thanks for everything!)
My dream collaboration is...
To shoot a commercial with Jean Claude Van Damme.
In up and coming talent, I look for...
A spark in the eyes, the ability to make things happen, strong self-motivation and something that scares the shit out of me.
A piece of criticism I've received was...
I need to better express my emotions. Which is a big challenge for me, since I don't have fully developed eyebrows.
The last song I listened to was...
"California King Bed" by Rihanna. Basically anything playing right now on Disney Radio.
Campaign for energy drink Flying Horse by Ogilvy Brazil, Sao Paulo. Creative Director: Anselmo Ramos. Featured in Archive Vol. 5/2012.
