Aureliano Fontana is associate creative director at BCube Milan, Italy. He got into advertising when visiting a friend in communications school. “I had just fallen in love with the exciting, challenging and creative climate that you could breathe there so I signed up for an Art Direction course."

The first thing I do in my day is...
Feed my small rabbit named RGB.
At the moment I am working on...
I’m handling some interesting BMW projects, together with copywriter, Bruno Vohwinkel; a year-long process that has given great results in terms of visibility and creativity. Actually the economic crisis has been a great stimulus under a creative point of view, as we’ve had to experiment with new media and different creative approaches.
The best piece of creative work around at the moment is...
“Altered Books” by contemporary American artist, Brian Dettmer. Using knives, tweezers and surgical tools, he carves old books into works of art, allowing the paper material to become something else. The book is no longer what it was initially thought to be and new stories are generated. It’s pure creativity.
I am inspired by...
Normality and daily life. The exceptional things are hidden within the daily life routine.
The next big thing in advertising is going to be...
The even more targeted approach of communication towards a one-to-one base with the consumer, together with the use of social media.
The piece of advertising work I wish I had thought of is...
A piece I just found incredible is “Immortal fans” from Ogilvy, Sao Paulo. Together with the Recife Transplant Center they’ve created a card to donate organs dedicated only to the Sport Club Recife. A very simple idea with a wonderful concept behind it, that was able to create emotion and that brought evident results.
In a film about my life, I’d like to be played by...
I would love to be played by a muppet created by Trey Parker, the creator of South Park and the Team America movie.
The screen background on my mobile phone is ...
I do change background quite often, because I get easily bored. I generally put relaxing images on, so that they don’t interfere with the contents - no girlfriend or Labrador puppies. Now for example I have a close-up picture of green grass, last week an interesting graphic texture.
My last social media update said...
“I’d like an ice-lolly flavored David Hasselhoff” - commenting an article of a British company that has produced ice-lollies with the shape of the famous TV series actor.
My dream collaboration is...
There are so many people I would like to work with: photographers, directors, but also important personalities of the advertising world. Because the beauty of this work is also to collaborate with interesting people. For sure one of those is the photographer, Erwin Olaf.
In up and coming talent, I look for...
I look for people that have characteristics you can’t learn or be taught, like determination, sensibility, taste and that particular type of intelligence where you don’t take yourself too seriously.
A piece of criticism I’ve received was...
Everyone says I have a very limited capacity to focus. But to me is not an issue – I’ve already stop listening to them after three seconds.
The last song I listened to was...
Father John Misty’s “Nancy From Now On”. And it has also been the one before the last and the one before that one – I’ve been listening to it on loop for the past month.
