“At the time, Photoshop was a new and exciting tool. It opened a new world to me. I couldn’t tear myself away from the computer lab my last year of school.
“When I graduated it was easy for me to find work, as I possessed an in demand skill set. I have been fortunate to work with talented people who challenged and pushed me. I decided that I wasn’t a very good photographer but I was a very good retoucher.”
The first thing I do in my day is...
I need coffee before I can answer that question. Okay, done. The first thing I do when I get into the studio is meet with my production coordinator to discuss the game plan for the day.
At the moment I am working on...
Unfortunately, a lot of the work we do is confidential until it’s published. I can tell you about a piece that we worked on recently with Nike in-house. It was head up by art director Jason Herkert and designer Joel Brandon. They wanted to do a graphic piece using Nike Flyknit Lunar footwear to convey a feeling of flight. These types of projects are fun to work on because they require problem solving and experimenting.
The best piece of creative work around at the moment is...
This is a hard question. I don’t think there is one singular best piece. There are so many amazing people out there doing fantastic work. I feel like the world is bursting at the seams with creative energy. Things are moving at the speed of light with the technology and culture changing so rapidly.
I am inspired by...
My daughter, nature, sparkly rocks, music, Los Angeles and the creative people that I am lucky enough to work with.
This year I’ll be attending...
Local art shows with my daughter.

The next big thing in advertising is going to be...
I don’t know if I can predict that. But, I am enjoying a youthful resurgence in advertising. I’ve worked on several car campaigns lately with photographers such as Carlos Serrao, Autumn De Wilde, Nicholas Maggio, and RJ Shaughnessy. I love the unconventional, fresh approach these artists bring to car photography. It’s an organic, youthful, authentic, artful redirection.
The ad work I wish I had thought of is...
We really like the ads the World Wildlife Fund are doing. Not only are they clever and beautiful, but, there is substance behind their message as well.
In a film about my life, I’d like to be played by...
Martha Plimpton.
