Samuel Estrada decided to pursue advertising after seeing a patronising Listerine advert as a child. “I was offended by the way the brand was talking to people – treating us like idiots.” After stints at the likes of Ogilvy London, he joined the McCann Worldgroup and is currently ECD and Managing Director at the Colombian office.

The first thing I do in my day is...
Read the newspaper.
At the moment I am working on...
Something very exciting. I am working for a brand that really inspires: The Colombian Tourism campaign. It is very interesting because the challenge is to show the new Colombia: the safer and tourist-friendly Colombia. We are working very closely with Proexport, the Colombian trade promoter, and hopefully in the next few months we can show it to the world.
The best piece of creative work around at the moment is...
It’s very hard to choose just one. Nowadays, you see work that surprises you - especially digital and interactive work. I love what McCann Erickson New York did for Nature Valley. The fact that you can walk around American national parks and enjoy the trails from your computer with outstanding realism is amazing and I find it so relevant for the brand.
The next big thing in advertising is going to be...
Nobody knows, everyday there is a new thing, but storytelling is something that will be part of advertising for ever. There will be new ways to get this storytelling through but I think this is timeless.
The piece of digital work I wish I had thought of is...
Twitter Scrabble - so simple, relevant, strategic, into everyday life, playful, friendly and interactive.
In a film about my life, I’d like to be played by...
Someone really handsome.
The screen background on my mobile phone is ...
My daughter Francisca dressed in a Wonder Woman costume.
My last social media update said...
“I shared my run with Nike+”
In up and coming talent, I look for...
Restless attitude, curiosity and someone who can challenge everything.
A piece of criticism I’ve received was...
That I am very intense - in a bad way obviously.
