This app for the iPhone and iPad complements
Björk’s new album, Biophilia, which revolves
around the themes of nature, music, and technology. There is a “mother” app – downloadable for free – depicting a fictitious cosmos in which the other apps move like stars. Each star represents one song from the album. To watch or listen, users have to buy the corresponding app. Each song/app contains the song, the lyrics, the notation, weird animations and more.
Sam Ball: “Biophilia is an iPhone/iPad release of Björk’s latest album created in collaboration with Scott Snibbe and her longtime design collaborators, M/M. Some of the most exciting digital creativity seen recently has been for music releases. This is because the clients are creative people and
they value the need for an original idea to help sell their product (if only they had some more money). Nobody epitomizes this more than Björk. I don’t particularly like her music but I have listened to this album, still don’t like it, but I have listened to it.”
