Chanel "Egoiste" #
To the accompaniment of the dramatic theme form Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet," a succession of beautiful, angry women appear on shuttered balconies to condemn the selfish behavior of one man. Their complaints are quotes form - depending on whether one sees the French, German or English version - Racine, Goethe and Shakespeare. The film turns from black and white to color as a man's are appears to place a bottle of "Egoiste" on the balustrade of his balcony. Then we see more shots of women appearing on their balconies and yelling before rhythmically opening and slamming the shutters of some thirty balconies surrounding the one balcony door behind which the man has again disappeared.
