As commercials go, these films for The New York Times are so next-level that they just about dwarf anything done by the competition. Utterly deservedly, they were awarded a Black Pencil, D&AD's very highest distinction, and took home 10 Lions this year including a Grand Prix in Film and Film Craft. We already featured one of the five films – “Fearlessness” – as our Spot of the Week three weeks ago. In this film – "Rigor" – a journalist goes to quite inconceivable lengths to scour public documents with a view to reconstructing the background to Donald Trump’s wealth and financial dealings, discovering possible evidence of federal crimes and tax fraud. Sometimes, it takes rigor to uncover the hard truth.
