You are going to need a minute to figure out what is actually going
on here, but once you get it, it’s actually amazing. The project sets
out to show how propaganda and news actually differ. Two “identical
twin AIs” were created and brought up over a period of 6 months,
being nurtured on news only. No outside factors, no experience, just 6
months of watching news – one was watching a state news channel,
the other an independent station After this, they had to answer
questions put by users – using only the knowledge and vocabulary of
the programs they had been watching. The output was quite simply
mindboggling. Payoff: “We are what we watch.”
Darre van Dijk: “The case study is a bit confusing because you are
watching real twins but the idea is that two AIs are programmed like
twins but fed by two different news channels in Russia – TV Russia-1
and the independent TV Rain – to see the effect of propaganda versus
news. Amazing test and amazing result.”
